The kitchen is the heart of any home. We always want a fresh feeling when entering kitchens as it is where we prepare our meals. Sadly, because of all the work that goes in there and courtesy of our busy schedules that isn’t always possible. Kitchen chores can be daunting! But don’t fret, because there are so many kitchen cleaning hacks that will definitely make your life easier. Here, we’ve put together 5 quick and easy kitchen cleaning hacks you’ll wish you’d known sooner.
1. Make your garbage disposals smell fresh
Unfortunately, municipal waste collectors tend to come over but once a week. And we have to while away all that time with the garbage stewing up a stink.
Fortunately for us, when nature gives us lemons we better make use of it. To make it simple squeeze a few lemons. Mix with water and freeze the juice in an ice tray.
Or if you’re cheap, use used lemon wedges, add rock salt and water, and pop them in ice trays. These ice cubes should be put in our garbage disposal. The ice melts releasing the flavor and smell of lemons and keeps away the grime.
This makes your garbage smelling great. You can do the same for your sink. Pop a few ice cubes down those drains and they too will smell great.
2. Clean ovens on autopilot
Ovens get dirty soon with all the cooking you do. The high-temperature setting caramelizes and browns everything to a deep dark. This leaves a bad smell.
Here’s what to do.
Pour a part of water, some baking powder, and synthetic vinegar in a cup. Once the oven is cool remove the grates and avoid touching the heating elements. Run the solution with a sponge and forget about it until morning. Once you wake up clean with some water and cloth. The gunk will leave in droves.
3. Use lemon and vinegar for surfaces
Again, this is something you get lying around in your kitchen. They leave the natural fragrance that you’re going to love. With lemon and vinegar create a solution. Spray it to wooden plates and things in the kitchen like a cabinet. Wipe down with a cloth to find the natural sparkling finish back again.
4. Deep clean your dishwasher with baking soda and vinegar
The dishwasher is another place that collects a lot of grime and dirt. And as strange as it may sound, you need to clean it. Run it down with vinegar and baking soda to clear the food residues stuck inside the dishwasher.
5. Remove food items and clean the refrigerator
The problem with refrigerators is as you keep accruing and creating and adding one dish after the other, the smells begin to take hold from them to the fridge. This is bad.
As the smells sit there, any food item you place gets these smells and that spoils their taste. For one thing, you can use a quality refrigerator that has air vents in each cabinet so that air circulates more easily.
Two to destroy persistent smells, use a combo of white vinegar first and clean with micro-fiber the insides of the fridge. Next, use a cloth and run down with lemon. The first process takes away and absorbs any persistent smells and the second one leaves a good fragrance behind. Do this periodically.
