Ingredients

For the Sauce:

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium, if preferred)

2 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp hoisin sauce

1 tbsp sesame oil

1 tsp sugar (optional, for a hint of sweetness)

1 tsp cornstarch (to thicken the sauce)

For the Stir-Fry:

8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti in a pinch)

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 tbsp vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece of ginger, grated

1 small onion, thinly sliced

1 red bell pepper, julienned

2 cups shredded cabbage (or prepackaged coleslaw mix)

1 cup snap peas or broccoli florets

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Directions

1. Cook the Noodles

● Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the lo mein noodles according to the package instructions.

● Drain and toss with a teaspoon of sesame oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.

2. Mix the Sauce

● In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and cornstarch.

● Set it aside. (Pro tip: Taste the sauce and adjust—if you like it saltier, add more soy; sweeter, add a pinch more sugar.)

3. Cook the Shrimp

● Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

● Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.

4. Stir-Fry the Veggies

● Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Toss in the garlic, ginger, and onion, stirring for 30 seconds until fragrant.

● Add the bell pepper, cabbage, and snap peas. Stir-fry for 3–5 minutes until the veggies are crisp-tender. (If you like softer veggies, stir-fry a minute longer.)

5. Combine Everything

● Return the shrimp to the skillet, along with the cooked noodles.

● Pour in the sauce and toss everything together until evenly coated and heated through, about 2 minutes.

6. Serve

● Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade takeout!
