Plywood panels can be used for furniture and flooring in porches and patios, however, they are also workable for home interiors.

Marine Plywood

If you live near the seashore or in a place where it rains a lot, marine plywood may be your choice. It has waterproof properties that make it extremely resistant.

Types of hardwood

What distinguishes hardwood from the different types of wood is its origin. Hardwood generally costs more and stems from trees that take longer to reach adulthood. Treating this wood may be difficult because it is hard. Here are some types of hardwood:

Walnut wood: for interior wall and floor coverings, interior carpentry such as doors, windows, moldings, friezes…

Elmwood: it is considered a very valuable wood in Europe, used in furniture and also for cabinetmaking, carving, and making musical instruments. It is also ideal for veneers.

Mahogany wood: Mahogany wood has a wide variety of uses and applications, being frequently used in the manufacture of furniture, tables, chairs, cabinets, turned, and carved furniture. It is also intended for coatings, moldings, skirting boards, friezes, windows, and doors.

Cherry wood: it is flexible and resistant. Besides, it resists humidity and takes longer to get rotten than other hardwood types. It is one of the favorite hardwoods for home décor.

Oakwood: oak is normally used for flooring. It can withstand the passing of time and is easy to work with.

Olive wood: it is beautiful and durable. It is the favorite material of many architects and interior designers to carry out small private projects and large public works.

Acacia wood

This tree provides one of the most resistant woods to climatic interference, which can be used in architectural processes.

Ebony wood

The most common is to see ebony wood in high-quality furniture. This use has been so widespread over time that the art of making quality furniture gets its name from here; cabinetmaking.

Live edge wood

According to wood craftsmen, “live edge”, also known as “natural edge”, refers to the living part of the tree, in other words, the outer rings. Working with a live edge implies respect for wood as a living entity, which is a principle that woodworkers must hold towards the different types of wood. A natural edge slab that exposes its natural shape can lead to a fruitful brainstorming process for every design.

Sheesham wood

Even though Sheesham can be used for high-end cabinets and furniture, the shortage of large quantities of Sheesham plywood and lumber means that the use of Sheesham is somewhat restricted to specialty items such as twists, carvings, plaques, novelties, marquetry, and inlays.

How to choose good wood?

When choosing between the different types of wood, it is necessary to look into some criteria: defects in the wood, hardness, grades, etc.

If you seek to buy wood that lasts for many years, does not deform or crack under pressure and blows, and is hard to scratch, you should choose hardwood even if it costs much more than a soft one.
