The most exciting time of the year is around the corner again. There is no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than decorating your home.

There are no set-in-stone rules for festive decor as most people tend to show their personality and creativity in how they choose to decorate. There are, however, some Christmas essentials that simply reflect the season’s magic.

These essentials are Christmas trees, garlands, wreaths, lights, stockings, ornaments, and tinsels. The classic Christmas colors are red and green, which may be paired with gold, silver, or white.

Nowadays, most people do not conform to the traditional ways of decorating for the holidays.

Our Thoughts on Studio McGee Christmas Decorations

There you have it! These are some amazing Studio McGee Christmas decorations that you can adopt for your own home this Christmas.

One of our favorites is the Red and Gold Christmas tree theme, it looks exceptionally beautiful—  especially on the flocked Christmas tree.

We also recently published an article on White and Blue Christmas Ideas that is worth checking out for more inspiration.

Most people tend to decorate their living room and entryway whilst leaving the rest of the rooms bare.

Take your Christmas decorations up a notch by decorating other rooms in your home, especially your kitchen where you will spend time with your loved one making Christmas meals.

For instance, Studio McGee showed us how placing garlands on the kitchen shelves is a simple and effective way to bring the Christmas spirit into the kitchen. Placing a wreath on the door or window is also a fantastic idea.

Placing a wreath above the kids’ bed is another clever way in which Shea brought the festivities in. The garland on the dining room cabinet also evokes the spirit and Christmas.

These Studio McGee Christmas decorations prove that simplicity is indeed the key to modern elegance.

Best Studio McGee Christmas Decorations Christmas Decorating Mistakes to Avoid Christmas Decorating Tips

Christmas Decorating Tips

●   Shop Early

If you have financial constraints or want to save a few bucks for something else, it is best to start your Christmas shopping in October, or even earlier.

Since demand increases in November and December, the prices of goods are also likely to increase.

Shopping early also means you’ll avoid the hassle and bustle that comes with late Christmas shopping.

Price-wise, the best time to buy a Christmas tree is in January — this is when you will find the best deals and discounts for nearly half the price.

● Declutter Your Home

Before, putting up your Christmas decorations, declutter your space and give every room in your home a good clean.

Make room for your Christmas tree and other decor ornaments. Put unused out-of-season items away so you can make room for Christmas decorations.

● Choose a Two or Three Color Scheme

It can be tempting to buy every Christmassy thing that sparkles and appeal to you in the store, but it is best to stick with a color scheme.

Choose two or three colors of baubles to use for your Christmas tree and use only these colors throughout the space.

● Decorate with Ribbons

There are so many creative ways to use ribbons for Christmas decorations.

They can be used to hang ornaments and to add character and color to the Christmas tree, garlands, gifts, and wreaths.

● Display Wrapped Presents Under the Tree

This may seem like a no-brainer since it is a common Christmas tradition.

Presents add aesthetic value to Christmas tree decoration, especially when the wrapping paper and ribbons complement the tree.

Christmas Decorating Mistakes to Avoid

● Too Much Decorating

It may sound cliche but less is more! Keeping things simple allows each decor piece to be a star of the show. As fun as Christmas shopping may seem, try to limit your Christmas decoration purchases.

Before going shopping, have a plan and space for everything you intend to buy. If you have decorations stored away from the year prior, consider reusing them or getting rid (by donating or selling them).

● Lack of Cohesion

Keep in mind that Christmas decor is temporary and need not match your home style but it needs to make aesthetic sense overall.

For instance, you’d want to avoid Christmas decorations and colors that clash with your existing home scheme.

Although, green and red are acceptable, no matter your home color scheme. Other colors should be chosen with care and consideration.

● Forgetting the Tree Topper

The tree topper is like the cheery on the cake, so be intentional about getting one. Some bauble packs come with a tree topper but you should check this to be sure you have one.

● Leaving the Front Door Bare

Decorating the front door sets the tone for the rest of the space. Not only does it make your home look festive from the outside but it also adds liveliness and holiday cheer to the neighborhood as well.

The most common Christmas front door decor is hanging up a wreath. There are also other ideas like creating a large bow to make your door appear like a gift.

● Defaulting to Green and Red

There is absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to the traditional Christmas color scheme but you don’t have to.

Get your creative juices flowing. Pick out a color from your home’s scheme and your favorite color and inject your personality into your Christmas decoration.

● Forgetting Essential Tools

This is probably the easiest mistake to make. Make a list of all the tools you need to hang and place your Christmas decorations.

Some of these essential tools are scissors, a ladder, a hammer, a screwdriver, double-sided adhesive tape, wire, command hooks, wreath hangers, ribbons, and wrapping papers.
